Subtitles for online courses: why they matter and how to add them fast

For course creators, subtitles aren't a nice-to-have — they directly affect how many students finish your lessons and how many can take them at all. If you sell or host online courses, here's why captions matter and how to add them to an entire library without losing a weekend.

Why captions matter for e-learning

• Completion: learners often watch in noisy places or in a second language. Captions keep them following along instead of dropping off.

The usual bottleneck

A course is rarely one video — it's dozens. Captioning them one at a time in an editor is the part everyone postpones. The trick is to batch the work.

How to caption a whole course fast

1. Put your lessons in a YouTube (unlisted) playlist, or have the files ready.
